MY LIFE IS FILLED WITH A VARIETY OF CREATIVE PURSUITS

WRITER, EDITOR
PHOTOGRAPHER

A writer is someone who writes, and I write to explore my life and the world around me, vent and pray, confess and surrender, celebrate and grieve, imagine and invent. I earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University in 2011.

I believe in sharing my gifts with others and in community, both physical and virtual. Since settling in the Pacific Northwest in 2012, I've volunteered with Field's End on Bainbridge Island, written a quarterly column for the all-volunteer Key Peninsula News, and donated my time as Literary Editor for Image Journal's (now defunct) blog "Good Letters" for six years. Currently I volunteer with Hypatia in the Woods arts residency for women and produce a weekly worship program for St. David of Wales Episcopal Church in Shelton, where I serve as a lay preacher.

Photography caught my eye in childhood, but I didn't begin taking pictures in earnest until relocating to the Pacific Northwest and wanting to capture the incredible and unfamiliar environment. In mid-2020 I upgraded my equipment and took online classes in digital photography and photo processing. I enjoy sharing the beauty I capture on social media.

EDUCATOR & LEADER

My passion and specialty is leading writing workshops, opening the door for creativity and expression of our deepest selves in a safe, supportive environment.

I am trained as a workshop facilitator in the Amherst Writers & Artists method where all writing is considered to be fiction. In AWA workshops, we write together, read newly written work aloud, offer only positive feedback, and maintain confidentiality. I use a similar method for spiritual and memoir workshops.

I've taught a variety of continuing education writing classes through BARN, Tacoma Community College, and Western WA University, and have lead Teen Writing Camp and one-time workshops for the Kitsap Regional Library.

HOME RENOVATOR

My husband and I are California natives who relocated to a fixer-upper in Washington’s Kitsap Peninsula in late 2011. After completely renovating our home, we sold it and founded Yellow Ribbon Homes, a company providing high quality residential construction, renovation, and remodeling services with integrity. We specialize in real estate preparation, inspection repairs, and water damage remediation.

We use our wealth of personal experience as home buyers, sellers, landlords, renovators, and designer, and my past experience as a real estate broker to assist clients throughout Western Puget Sound.

Curious about writing, editing, real estate, or renovation services? Contact me.
